The regulator said such materials are being used in cakes, bakery items, takeaway parcels, snack packets, and food boxes, posing a serious food safety risk if accidentally consumed. FSSAI warned that metallic pins can cause injuries and adverse health effects and instructed businesses to adopt safer alternatives for sealing and fastening packages.
