The shift was further intensified by extreme heatwave conditions across the country and widespread LPG shortages, both of which significantly impacted demand from restaurants, street food vendors, and other bulk consumers of edible oils, leading to weaker overall consumption patterns. In contrast, sunflower oil imports fell sharply by 32.3% to 2.94 lakh tonnes during the same period, reflecting reduced buying interest and changing import preferences. Meanwhile, palm oil imports recorded only a marginal month-on-month recovery but remained well below historical monthly averages, indicating continued subdued demand.
