FSSAI Issues Notices to 15 Food Brands for Allegedly Misleading Consumers

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued notices to 15 food business operators for allegedly misleading consumers through brand names, labels, taglines, and product claims. The brands include Emami Healthy & Tasty, Health Aid, Troovy, The Healthy Factory, Healthy Master, Healthy Choice, Plan B, Neuherbs, Organic Wisdom, Shine Organic, Two Brothers Organic Farms, World of Organic, Storia, and Iota Water. FSSAI raised concerns over the use of terms such as “healthy,” “organic,” “vegan,” and other promotional claims that may not comply with regulatory requirements. Specific products flagged include oils, bread, pizza bases, chips, vitamins, pasta, ghee, juice, and packaged drinking water. The regulator also questioned claims related to organic certification, vegan endorsement, nutritional benefits, and product composition. According to FSSAI, such claims have the potential to mislead consumers regarding the true nature of the products. The authority has directed all concerned companies to strictly follow food labelling and display regulations. The move is part of FSSAI’s ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, prevent consumer deception, and ensure accurate information in food marketing across India.
