Maharashtra FDA Cracks Down on Bakeries & Eateries Over Food Safety Violations

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken action against six bakeries and eateries following inspections that uncovered serious food safety and hygiene violations. During the statewide enforcement drive, officials identified unhygienic food handling practices, poor sanitation, improper storage conditions, inadequate maintenance, and other non-compliances with food safety regulations at the inspected establishments. Based on the findings, the FDA suspended the licences of the violating units and directed them to immediately implement corrective measures before resuming food business operations. The department warned that establishments failing to comply with food safety standards will face strict regulatory action. It further stated that regular inspections and enforcement drives will continue across Maharashtra to strengthen compliance, improve hygiene standards, and safeguard public health.
