79 Still Hospitalised After Bhiwandi Food Poisoning; FDA Seals Eatery

Five days after a food poisoning outbreak in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, 79 people remain under observation at IGM Hospital after consuming shawarma from a local eatery. A total of 124 patients were admitted, with 45 discharged after treatment. Hospital authorities confirmed that all patients are stable, while food samples have been sent for microbiological and chemical analysis to identify the cause. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has sealed the suspected eatery and initiated inspections across food establishments for safety violations. Officials noted that only customers who consumed shawarma after 10 p.m. reported illness, prompting an investigation into the food preparation process. Local representatives have also urged stricter monitoring of eateries and storage facilities to prevent similar incidents.
