CCPA Fines Storia, English Oven For Misleading “100%” Food Claims

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a penalty of ₹1 lakh each on Storia Foods and Bectors Food Specialities (English Oven) for misleading “100%” claims on food labels. The regulator found that Storia’s products marketed as “100% Tender Coconut Water” and fruit juices contained reconstituted ingredients and preservatives, making the claims misleading. Similarly, English Oven’s bread products advertised as “100% Atta” and “100% Whole Wheat” were found to contain only 87% whole wheat flour. The CCPA has directed both companies to withdraw the claims from packaging, websites, and digital platforms, citing violations of consumer protection and advertising guidelines.
