Spices Board Urges Exporters to Meet China’s Pesticide Residue Norms

The Spices Board of India has issued a trade advisory urging spice exporters to strictly comply with China’s National Food Safety Standards after several Indian spice consignments were found to contain pesticide residues exceeding the country’s Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs). The Board warned that continued non-compliance could lead to suspension of DAPQ or CIFER registrations, affecting exports to China. Exporters have been advised to conduct regular laboratory testing, strengthen quality control and traceability systems, maintain detailed documentation, and work closely with farmers to promote responsible pesticide use and good agricultural practices. The Board also urged exporters to stay updated on Chinese regulations and assured continued guidance and support to help the industry meet international food safety standards and safeguard India’s reputation in the Chinese market.
