Surprise School Inspections in MP Reveal Major Food Safety Violations

The Madhya Pradesh Food Safety Department conducted surprise inspections across schools and educational institutions in Indore, uncovering serious food safety and hygiene violations. Two institutional kitchens were ordered to shut down immediately due to non-compliance. Officials found one food vendor operating without a valid licence, while another failed to maintain proper hygiene standards. Inspectors also identified the use of untested water for cooking and improper food storage practices. A total of 31 food samples, including pulses, mawa, flour, bread, and cooked meals, were collected for laboratory analysis. Authorities directed the institutions to strengthen their food safety management systems. They also warned that strict legal action would be taken against those failing to comply with prescribed food safety standards.
