FSSAI Issues Notices to Lotte India, Ferns N Petals & Kubera Foods Over Misleading Product Claims

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued notices to Lotte India, Ferns N Petals, and Kubera Foods for alleged non-compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the Food Safety and Standards (Advertising and Claims) Regulations, 2018. The action targets misleading product descriptions, inaccurate front-of-pack claims, and labelling observations, including claims such as “100% Natural,” “No Preservatives, Colours & Flavours,” and product descriptions that may mislead consumers about the nature or quality of the food. FSSAI has directed the companies to submit their explanations within seven days and take appropriate corrective measures to ensure compliance with food safety regulations. The regulator’s action reinforces the importance of truthful advertising, accurate food labelling, and consumer protection across the food industry.
