Synthetic Milk Racket Under Investigation In Maharastra

A joint investigation by the Maharashtra Police and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has uncovered a suspected large-scale synthetic milk adulteration racket operating in Bhoom taluka, Dharashiv district. Investigators believe that over 2.3 crore litres of suspected adulterated milk may have entered the state’s supply chain over the past six months after synthetic milk was allegedly blended with genuine milk. According to the investigation, the synthetic milk was reportedly prepared using low-quality milk powder, detergent powder, palm oil, and other chemical additives to imitate the appearance and fat content of real milk. Authorities have registered a case against seven accused, constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), and continue raids to trace those involved. Officials have also warned that consumption of chemically adulterated milk may pose serious health risks, particularly to children, pregnant women, and the elderly.
